REFLECTION
For one of my tasks I had to take ten scenes from scenario and decide which parts should be censored.
1) Camera pans across the street where the builder lives: Uncensored. I believe that this scene does not need to be censored because simply showing the street that someone lives on isn't too revealing.
2) The name of the road and the London borough it is situated in is completely visible on a street sign: Censored. I believe that this part should be censored because showing what street they live on can be revealing and people can use the information to find their house and commit harassment.
3) The builders house can be seen in shot, including his house name and number on the gate post: Censored. I believe that this scene doesn't need to be censored for the same reason as the previous scene.
4) Two children, suspected to be the builder's own, are bouncing on a trampoline in the front garden: Censored. I believe that this part should be censored because if other children in their school just so happen to see the film then they might bully them.
5) Bob the builder comes out of the property with his female partner. They are seen getting into his work van: Censored. I believe that this scene should be censored because his partner might not be guilty of the same incompetent building techniques as him although she might still be harassed so she should be censored.
6) A vinyl print of the building company can be seen on the van: Uncensored. I believe that this part does not need to be censored because if the company is his own then people can beware of it and if he just works for the company then they can get back on their feet after any complaints.
7) His vehicle and registration number are clearly visible in frame: Censored. I believe that this scene should be censored because people can easily find a car via registration number and they could vandalise the vehicle and possibly even find where they live.
8) The presenter is seen confronting Bob the builder. He asks wether he knows that the work he performed in Mr & Mrs Joens' house was not only of poor quality, but dangerous too: Uncensored. I believe that this part doesn't need to be censored because simply talking about the quality of work is not something that could be deemed offensive by anyone (except Bob).
9) The builder is very angry and swears at the presenter several times: Censored. I believe that this scene should be censored because profane language is considered to be offensive by many people, the morals of the producers and director(s) and wether or not it's after 'Watershed' may effect the answer.
10) He pushes the presenter before getting into the van and driving off at speed: Censored. I believe that this part should be censored because a depiction of violence can be a sensitive topic for some people.
The video above is a video that I made as a practice run for video scaling (despite how it may look) that I could use for my documentary.
I used key frames accessed in the Effect Controls menu of Adobe Premier Pro. They where key frames for scale, position and rotation and I used said key frames to make an image of Thorpe Park move very strangely across the screen.
Final Major Project Reflection
This is my reflection for the FMP that I did regarding exoplanets.
It begins in my home after a shot of stars on a time-lapse where I am siting down and explaining the subject before cutting to a title screen. The documentary goes between me, stock footage of exoplanets and interview settings. I go over many major discoveries, mostly older ones, and how they contributed to science. At the end of the documentary I also go over the future of exoplanet discovery and research especially regarding the upcoming James Webb Space Telescope.
Overall I feel confidant that I did well with the documentary when considering some of the circumstances. Most of the filming was done on the same week as my 18th birthday so I was also doing a lot of other things which left only limited amounts of time for filming and/or editing.
GOOD.
I didn't leave in any awkward moments that are meant to be edited out like I did during the previous project. I felt that I gave enough information about all the planets that I covered.
COULD BE IMPROVED.
Some of the scenes where done last minuet and are obviously improvised. I couldn't find an expert to interview (their all quite busy) so I had one of my family members cover for them. Due to unprecedented circumstances I had to recreate the film from scratch and I had lost some footage as well so it is as comprehensible as it can be.
If I would have to have a guess as to why some parts of the filming didn't go exactly as planed then it would have to be that I was preoccupied with other activities that I was doing at the time. This was because of the inconvenient timing. In conclusion I would say that my FMP documentary was mostly a success with a number of small flaws that could definitely be ironed out.
